Description

Introduced for superior rich red to reddish-purple fall color; the earliest red maple to color, by September 15 at the Arnold Arboretum and holds its color for a long time (20 to 30 days). Forms a large upright-spreading crown; plants 60' to 70' tall. Female. Has largely fallen out of favor since the introduction of the "better" fall coloring, smaller types.
