Join us for a deep dive into the Pounder Vegetable Garden at Cornell Botanic Gardens. This garden features sustainable practices you can implement in your own backyard veggie garden, as well as changing educational themes such as Crops of the Americas, Plant Families, and ways to reduce our carbon footprint.
The Pounder Garden is also a space where partnerships take root. Host Kevin Moss talks with guests Emily Detrick, Director of Horticulture, and Steve Henhawk, Cayuga (Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ), who will discuss the heirloom beans and other crops he is growing here. These plantings will serve to both teach Steve’s students at Cornell about Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ culture and language, and to save seeds for sharing back with indigenous communities who first cultivated these varieties here in the Finger Lakes hundreds of years ago.
