Description

Upright, suckering tightly multi-stemmed shrub, 6' to 20' tall. The white flowers are borne in erect,compact, 2" to 3" long racemes and the petals are more distinctly and uniformly obovate than in A. arborea or A. laevis, and somewhat shorter, 3/5" long. Fruit is black, juicy and sweet. A. canadensis flowers about two weeks earlier than A. arborea and A. laevis. Fall color is usually yellow and gold, although individuals can have sprinklings of orange and red.
